Subsidiaries Vs Associates

The terms affiliate, associate, and subsidiary refer to the degree of ownership that a parent company holds in another company. In most cases, affiliate and associate are used synonymously to describe a company whose parent only possesses a minority stake in the ownership of the company.

However, a subsidiary is a company whose parent is a majority shareholder (owning more than 50%). While in a wholly owned subsidiary, the parent company owns 100% of the subsidiary.

A parent company publish financial statement of its subsidiaries but not of associate. Associates are mentioned as asset on parent company financial statement.

A Reason I got to Protest Against Proposed Change for Engineering Tests

Yes, I also got a reason to protest against the new proposed IIT and all colleges combined Engineering Exam change by Central Govt as one nation one test. Many govts and other institution does not give students more than 90% so easily while some institution easily give high number. In this case those students who are studying in those state board will be left out for no reason. Central govt institution like CBSE and others give student full marks but in many state board exam it is very difficult to get very high score. It is not general to get 80-90%  there. Few state boards may be giving student high marks then in that case students from those places may get selected without comparative merit.

Rightly IIT Kanpur objected strongly.

Abraham Lincoln’s Letter to his Son’s Teacher

The following is the supposedly a letter from Abraham Lincoln to a school teacher in his son school. I came to this after a search for the letter. I was reading a news article where the letter was mentioned. This gives us pointer about what should also be a part of syllabus. School syllabus should also have something related to moral building, how to deal with people and society and how to handle ourselves in situation of adversity. So, that people after schooling can be a better human. Better from mind & from soul and not just good in Math, Physics, etc which we may need or do not need in our lives.

He will have to learn, I know,
that all men are not just,
all men are not true.
But teach him also that
for every scoundrel there is a hero;
that for every selfish Politician,
there is a dedicated leader…
Teach him for every enemy there is a friend,

Steer him away from envy,
if you can,
teach him the secret of
quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that
the bullies are the easiest to lick…
Teach him, if you can,
the wonder of books…
But also give him quiet time
to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,
bees in the sun,
and the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him
it is far honorable to fail
than to cheat…
Teach him to have faith
in his own ideas,
even if everyone tells him
they are wrong…
Teach him to be gentle
with gentle people,
and tough with the tough.

Try to give my son
the strength not to follow the crowd
when everyone is getting on the band wagon…
Teach him to listen to all men…
but teach him also to filter
all he hears on a screen of truth,
and take only the good
that comes through.

Teach him if you can,
how to laugh when he is sad…
Teach him there is no shame in tears,
Teach him to scoff at cynics
and to beware of too much sweetness…
Teach him to sell his brawn
and brain to the highest bidders
but never to put a price-tag
on his heart and soul.
Teach him to close his ears
to a howling mob
and to stand and fight
if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently,
but do not cuddle him,
because only the test
of fire makes fine steel.
Let him have the courage
to be impatient…
let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always
to have sublime faith in himself,
because then he will have
sublime faith in mankind.
This is a big order,
but see what you can do…
He is such a fine little fellow,
my son!

Ahmedabad's IIM, I think is the best even among IIMs. Still, after getting the degree, Kaushalendra thought to choose selling vegetables as his career. He desires to sell vegetables from Bihar to whole of India. He is selling vegetables under the brand name of "Samriddhi" (progress). He want to make a brand Bihar. So, Bihar branded vegetable he want to sell. Be ready to buy vegetables from Bihar even you are living in different state. He has said to market in India only, so only qualification to be a customers of his company is to be an Indian. :)

You may have also listened a news that one guy from Bihar started helping Rickshaw pullers and want to change lives of rickshaw puller. Ya, that was a different one and not the same person forced to switch job after unsuccess ;). Looking for Jobs In Dubai or Gulf Countries?

My friend received an email for Jobs in Dubai. The website mentioned was a well maintained one. He registered there for free service and then afterwards he keep on waiting for a job in Dubai.

From time to time, he received emails about the payment. CAD $92 they demand for the service. The site claims that this charge is for the listing of your porfile on website and potential employers will find your profile. They claims that this is one time payment and you will get a guarenteed job within 6 months otherwise your money will be refunded.

One day, he thought to pay the amount. He was just ready to enter his credit card details then he thought to check about the consultant on internet.

I am talking about the job site http://www.jobsindubai.com/ and http://www.jobsindubai.ca/. He have found few enteries about the website and everywhere, there was something wrong mentioned about the website. One thing he could not digest was the fact- why website are demanding money from a experienced developer. All companies asks for good developers and job consultants try to get as much profile as they can. So job consultants do not ask money from the professionals. So, he was not willing to pay the money.

The last email he received was:

Right To Education For 6-14 Age Group Children

The Union cabinet on Thursday cleared the right to education bill. This will be introduced in parliament in December. After Right to Education (RTE) becomes law, education will become fundamental right for age group of 6-14.
Currently Right to Education is directive principle of the state policy.
Group of Ministers (GOM) decided, both the center and state would be responsible for finance. The GOM will consult the Finance Commission for additional resources.
This will have features, which prohibit teachers from undertaking private tuitions and not letting them for use in non-educational purposes (election duty, vaccination etc).
To monitor the implementation, the bill proposes national commission for elementary education. And it chairman will be appointed by a committee consisting of Prime Minister, leaders of Opposition in both houses of parliament and Lok Sabha Speaker.
This bill will cost nearly Rs 12,000 crore every year to the government. Private unaided school will also have to reserve 25% for the poor in the neighborhood.
